My name is Carmen C. Rivera and I’m a Chicago-born, Humboldt-Park-raised Puerto Rican/French Creole woman who loves where she lives and where she come from. I embrace my culture and the culture of all that surrounds me.
I take pride in my city and ALL the neighborhoods that make it what it is. I’ve traveled quite a bit in my life and have lived in a few different places, so believe me when I say there’s no place like the Chi!!
My day job is at Chicago magazine. I work in the publishers office and the people here are a great source. I learn from and appreciate my job every day.
I’ve been in media (via Tribune Company and a few other media outlets) in a variety of capacities for more than 16 years and have always loved knowing what’s going on almost before everyone else does. It’s a BLAST! Now, I’m wanting to give back … give back what the city has to offer and has taught me along the way: that’ it’s a GREAT city with lots of magnificent cultures!!
That’s my mission and I hope you enjoy it.
About my Blog:
en Chicago is the journal of my personal ventures and experiences of everything Hispanic, as well as the other vast cultures that I may cross within “inner-city” Chicago.
I love this city and want to give back, so I’m giving you all that’s good within the city and nearby suburbs. Why not?! Let’s show off what we have to offer!
I’m HOT on the Hispanic Happenings trail, and love to sample ALL cultures. That’s what this blog is about–my travels around the city.
Humboldt Park, Pilsen, Logan Square, Little Village, Andersonville, Hyde Park, Albany Park, Chatham Lawndale, Noble Square, CULTURE is EVERYWHERE, so tell me what you’ve got going on, and when it is, and I’ll tell you what I think of it and why! I’m a real person with a real opinion.
Everything including Entertainment, Cultural Events, Neighborhood Festivals, Dance, Theater, Politics– whatever is GOOD for the Hispanic Community and those that surround it.
Hope to see you around– Where?! en Chicago!!
